1. What are the requirements to be allowed to take the CNA and Med Aide dual program? You must be 18 years of age or older, have a high school diploma or GED, be able to read, write and understand English at a higher learning level. You will have to have a current photo ID and a social secuity card to take the state exams. It is preferred that you have a CPR certification that is valid or current from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Assocation. You will more then likely need your CPR to apply for jobs.
2. What is I already have my CNA? You want to register for the Medication Aide class or tell me in advance, you only need the Med Aide not the dual program with the CNA. You can still attend the program. Your price will be less. View "Registering / Class Fees" to find out the costs.
3. What if I have my Medication Aide? Then, you do not need this class. You want to register for the CNA home study or the CNA fast track full training class. Do not register for the dual program.
4. Do I have to attend the whole session? Yes, you MUSTattend all three days to receive your certificate and be able to take the state exam.
5. Where is this class offered? To start, Monroe, Greensboro and Raleigh. But, we will expand to the other locations if there is enough interest.
6. What are the fees? Click on "Registering / Class Fees" link to the left. It depends on which location you choose.
7. Are the books included? Yes, all books, materials and shipping is included in the total price.
8. How many students are in a class? Ten. Ten is the maximum number allowed.
9. Will I take the state exams the same day? No. This is just the training for the state exam. The CNA is one state exam and the Med Aide will be another state exam. You will register for these on your own, but we go through the application process in the class. You can not "Test Out or Challange" the Medication Aide exam in North Carolina. You must attend a course.
10. What is the cost of the CNA state exam? $101.00.
11. What is the cost of the Med Aide state exam? $55.00.
12. Will I be listed on a registry? Yes, the website is http://www.ncnar.org/ You will have two separate certifications after passing the state exams, CNA and Medication Aide. They are valid for two years. Every two years, you will renew them.
13. Is there a fee to renew your CNA or Med Aide? No, it is free to renew them.
